Researchers sample the benthic environment as part of the program’s environmental monitoring component.

Because winter flounder feed on benthic invertebrates and utilize much of the estuary, we have monitored 5 geographically distinct sites within the Hampton-Seabrook Estuary. This includes benthic core samples for epifaunal and infaunal community analyses, data loggers for temperature and salinity, and trawl surveys for fish and macro-invertebrate catch.
